Exploring St. Michael's School & Nursery: A Comprehensive Overview

St. Michael's School & Nursery, located in Wilmington, Delaware, is a facility that has garnered mixed reviews from parents and guardians. While some families commend the school for its inclusive environment and accessibility features, others have voiced concerns regarding the quality of care provided.

Accessibility Features

One notable aspect of St. Michael's is its commitment to accessibility. The school boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, ensuring that all children and their families can navigate the premises with ease. This is a crucial factor for many families seeking an inclusive environment for their children, particularly those with special needs.

Mixed Reviews from Parents

Despite the positive aspects, several parents have shared troubling experiences. One parent reported that their child, who has developmental delays, did not receive the expected level of support. They expressed disappointment in the lack of communication regarding incidents and staff turnover, raising concerns about the school's ability to cater to children with special needs. Another family highlighted issues related to care, stating that their twins experienced double diapering during their first month at the nursery. This situation led to feelings of neglect and raised questions about the management’s responsiveness to parental concerns. They noted that while the caregivers were exceptional, the child-to-caregiver ratio often felt overwhelming.

A Positive Perspective

Conversely, some testimonials emphasize the dedication of the staff, especially in cases involving specific dietary needs. A parent of a child with an amino acid disease praised the school for its proactive approach in managing dietary requirements, noting that their son was happy and felt safe at St. Michael's.

Conclusion

In conclusion, St. Michael's School & Nursery presents itself as a facility striving to provide accessible and inclusive education. However, potential families should weigh the mixed reviews regarding care quality and staff stability. It is crucial for parents to investigate firsthand and engage in discussions with staff to ensure that their child's specific needs will be met effectively.

I spotted a wee babe on the ground, without a blanket beneath him, just lying barefaced on the floor. That's a health violation for the little one, it is.
Susan Bailey (6/3/25, 7:48 PM):
I've heard great things about St. Michael's until I enrolled my twins. Within the first 30 days, my boys came home wearing two pull-ups each, which is considered "double diapering" and neglectful. I brought this issue to the attention of the management, but since then, we haven't felt very welcomed. The upper management team engaged in ongoing retaliatory interactions throughout our time at the facility. While the daycare itself was great, if you question or disagree with how your child is cared for, they seem to want you to leave and will come up with reasons to support their actions. The staff were exceptional caregivers, but the child-to-caregiver ratio made things overwhelming.
