Positive Experiences

Many parents have shared their appreciation for the dedicated staff at The Little People Child Development Center. One satisfied parent remarked:

"My son has been in this school since he was 1...The staff is very knowledgeable, caring, and friendly. The owner, Janice, has a beautiful heart and demonstrates daily how much she cares about all of the children."

This sentiment is echoed by another parent who notes, "Safety and cleanliness are first and foremost," highlighting the importance of a secure and hygienic environment for young children. Additionally, the center has achieved a commendable 5-star rating from the state of Delaware's accreditation system, which speaks to its commitment to quality childcare.

Programs and Initiatives

The Little People Child Development Center offers a variety of programs designed to prepare children for success in kindergarten. Parents have observed significant improvements in their children's skills, such as fine motor abilities and social interactions. One parent noted:

"My daughter is making great strides in her fine motor skills and social graces."

The center also provides added benefits, including meals, before and after care, and transportation services, which many parents find invaluable.

Staff Relations and Management Style

While there are numerous positive testimonials, some parents express concerns regarding the management style of Janice Palmer, the center's owner. Several reviews describe her leadership as overly strict, with one parent stating:

"Janice runs a tight ship...This is something that I admire...but can feel like a dictatorship to others."

This division in perception raises questions about whether the firm structure is beneficial or detrimental to the overall environment. Some parents have mentioned feeling belittled or facing a lack of communication regarding their children's progress or incidents that occur.

Concerns and Complaints

I would rate this place one star merely due to that tragic incident involving a child and a staff member. It is my belief that the building should be torn down.
Patrick Hamilton (7/17/25, 12:03 PM):
I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone. Honestly, I don't know who decided to have a word with me this morning, but the way I was spoken to was just plain ridiculous. It felt like I had been transported back to being a 6-year-old in a strict Catholic school. Save yourselves the trouble and steer clear of this place. Apparently, there's an unwritten rule about a parent dress code, can you believe it? Imagine having to wake up at the crack of dawn to get your kids ready for school, make two separate drop-offs, work a grueling 12-hour day, and then be told you can't drop off your children in simple shorts and a T-shirt at a pricey daycare facility. Absolutely shocking. Well, newsflash, until the day you start footing my bills, I'll be dropping off my kids however I darn well please.
Jean Smith (7/17/25, 11:32 AM):
This day care center is the most unprofessional and unethical place I have ever encountered. I highly advise seeking childcare services elsewhere.
Rachel Powell (7/17/25, 5:13 AM):
I would strongly advise against enrolling your children at this day care center. The staff, especially the principal, Jennie, displays a complete lack of professionalism and rudeness. They have a tendency to misplace your children's belongings and deny ever receiving them, impose exorbitant late fees even when you were on time, and refuse to provide you with a copy of your contract when requested. My personal experience with this day care leads me to believe it is not a reputable establishment. I urge you to avoid the unnecessary stress that comes with choosing this particular day care for your children.
Albert Kelly (7/9/25, 8:35 AM):
The best daycare center around, I must say. The team and manager are always on the ball. I head off to work each day feeling calm and collected, knowing my little one is in good hands. Each member of the staff is highly qualified and they make sure to adhere to all rules and regulations. I highly recommend this place if you're seeking top-notch care for your child. All three sites are rated 6 stars, but personally, I have a soft spot for the bear location. Cheers!

I say, the bus driver just careened across Dupont Highway while I had the green light and almost hit me and 2 other vehicles while we were driving 50 mph. Blimey! I almost perished 2 years ago in a frightful accident. I've only been in Delaware for 2 years and people drive like mad here, but I don't fancy my little ones riding with an unsafe driver like yours.
Alan Parker (6/24/25, 6:09 PM):
Dreadful proprietor. Treats parents and staff dreadfully... unless, of course, you cater to her power trip.
Vincent Brown (6/24/25, 1:40 PM):
Dealing drugs from the day care with other people's kids exposed to it. Seriously, do it elsewhere.
Jean Harris (6/14/25, 10:10 PM):
On the 5th of September, 2019, a tragic incident occurred at Little People Child Center where a 4-month-old baby lost their life. As an SEO specialist with expertise in Day care centers, I strongly advise against considering this facility for your child's care. It has come to light that a staff member took extreme and unacceptable actions by harming the child due to excessive crying. This is not an isolated incident, as there have been reports of other concerning events involving multiple staff members. It is crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of children in any daycare setting.
Zoey Phillips (6/5/25, 8:21 PM):
I must say, I was absolutely flabbergasted when my grandchildren returned home from the day care center in such a disheveled state, with only half of their belongings in tow. And to top it off, when I voiced my concerns, the staff members were incredibly impolite and decided to dismiss my grandchildren from the school altogether. What a disheartening experience!

I've had my kids in this daycare center for nearly 4 years now. It's always impeccably clean, the teachers are fantastic with my kids, and the staff truly cares about the families they serve. The owner is very involved and genuinely sees the children as unique individuals. She goes above and beyond for them consistently. Some may say she's only in it for the money, but as a single mom, there have been times when I struggled financially, and she always found a way to accommodate me. That doesn't sound like greed to me. She even treats the students to lunches from fancy restaurants out of her own pocket. I wouldn't trust my children with anyone else. Those leaving negative reviews are likely just disgruntled because they didn't get their way. This is the top-notch daycare for kids. As for comments about the owner, she runs a tight ship and stays closely connected with her staff throughout the day. That's why this center consistently meets state board standards. You get what you pay for in terms of quality care.
